Two stabbing victims went to the hospital in separate incidents as six overnight muggings and street attacks were reported citywide.
Here’s what took place, where, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:
Shortly before midnight in the parking lot of the Whalley Walgreen’s near Boulevard, a stranger in a ski mask approached too man. A “tussle” ensued; the suspect fled. One of the victims was stabbed and went to the Hospital of St. Raphael for treatment.
A 19-year-old Northford man said six males “approached” him on Exchange Street around 10:20 p.m. A fight broke out. He was stabbed five times in the back; his lung collapsed.
Muggers dragged a 67-year-old woman to the ground in the lot behind the downtown Family Dollar. They fled with her white leather pocketbook with $190 and credit cards inside.
An armed mugger took $50 to $100 from a victim on Upper State Street around 7 p.m.
Two hours later, three man with ski masks “got out of a light colored Saturn four-door,” approached a man on Exchange Street, “put a hard object to his side,” and made off with $70, a leather coat, and house keys. One of the muggers punched the victim in the mouth.
Three men in ski masks approached a China Sea restaurant delivery man as he walked back to his car on Plymouth Street around 10:30 p.m. One mugger pointed a handgun and demanded money. They made off with $100 and “and a gold-colored T-Mobil cell phone.”

this is becoming a crime wave. I know it can't be reported, but I hope the victims got good descriptions of the cars, and every officer who works a patrol is on the lookout.

and let it be known--it's cold outside, but if you're wearing ski masks, follow people at a distance so as not to appear suspicious. unless you want to feel (not unreasonably) judged.
