Parish Hall Reborn. Next: Bigelow?

IMG_0715.JPG The performance of these lovely young dancers helped dedicate BRAMS (Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School) Hall, formerly the parish hall of St. Peter's Church, in the culmination of a five-year long preservation fight. The festive event inspires an idea for a new campaign -- how about restoring the Bigelow Boiler complex on River Street and making that a school building, too?

Donuts Draw Heat

Two proposed Dunkin' Donuts shops each drew protesters to a zoning meeting, including these concerned pedestrians, "two of the most able-bodied, fastest-walking people" in an elderly West River housing complex by a treacherous crosswalk.

A Splash Better Late Than Never

Brian Bogart (top photo) spread the concrete where a water fountain will help cool off kids in a rebuilt splash park/ playground in the Hill. The project was supposed to be finished in time for the recent heat wave, but its imminent conclusion is still good news for neighbors like Carmen Gonzalez (in left photo), who is weighing safety fears with a desire to let her kids play there.
