“Norm” Hits the Shubert

Those who showed up to the Shubert to see George Wendt, the beloved Norm from “Cheers,” might have gotten a better look a few doors down at the Anchor Bar, where he was spotted earlier this week. His role in the classic Twelve Angry Men is minor, and others just don’t wow as Henry Fonda did, but the play’s still rich with insight into prejudice and pursuasive power.

Music Helps “Mend a Broken World”

Ten-year old Monet Monterroso and her teacher Olga Shibtini of the Saturday Islamic School at the Bridgeport Islamic Community Center were among the more than 300 people across faiths and communities who gathered at Battell Chapel on the Yale campus Sunday night for a rousing fundraising concert to assist the civilian victims of violence in Gaza, Israel, and Lebanon. The concert offered a sense of healing not just through the music, but through who showed up, and why.

Bath Time

The city’s Angel of Peace, relocated from East Rock to the New Haven Green during restoration, got a public bath Friday afternoon. Workers blasted corrosion off the statue with a power washer, said Francis Miller of ConservArt in Hamden.
