Twenty-three-year-old New Haven Police Department hopeful Andrew Logan followed his uncle cop’s advice to the letter: Be totally honest and tell the truth about absolutely everything, including about the use of his girlfriend’s acne medication.

A Superior Court judge Thursday began to peel the onion of who owns the Church Street South apartment complex and ultimately who will be held responsible for the dilapidation that drove out its tenants and allegedly caused them severe health problems.
She ended up assigning both sides a lot of homework — because getting to the bottom in court of New Haven’s biggest housing/health crisis of the decade will apparently take a while.

It may take up to several hours for one police staffer to process a half-hour long body cam video in order to provide a copy to the public, to the press, to attorneys, or in response to Freedom of Information requests
If there are three or four officers involved in the same incident, each with their own half-hour video of the same action, that could add up to a day and a half or two days’ work.
And there are on average 12 requests coming in per week.

Police commissioners voted to adopt two new rules about how officers should respond during active shooter situations and during large public protests.
They also voted to withhold those two new rules from public view and consideration, leaving at least one local activist wary of what to expect from the police during the next peaceful demonstration downtown.

The cops asked the black student why she had an “expired” Yale ID.
They didn’t ask the white student that.
Neither one had an expired ID.
Yale ID cards don’t have expiration dates on them.
