Victim Critical In DUI Crash

A pedestrian was severely injured early Friday when he was hit by a car at Goffe and Sperry streets, police said.
The driver of the car, who lives in Hamden, was charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle and driving under the influence, according to Office David Hartman, the city’s police spokesman.

Refugee Mom Hangs On, As Son Soars

If he can raise the money, Newhallville 13-year-old Berket Tewolde will join a national youth leadership conference in Washington D.C. this summer. It will be the latest step on a journey he began as an infant with his mother in Ethiopia, part of a path that winds through Kenya, Uganda, and a New Haven homeless shelter.
