An estimated 2,200 children statewide are about to lose health-care coverage because of new premiums in the state’s HUSKY program. Double Vows

It was a day for vows at City Hall Tuesday for Beaver Hills politicians. Alderwoman Babz Rawls-Ivy of the 28th Ward renewed her wedding vows the same day, and at the same place, that Thomas Lehtonen was sworn in to replace the late 27th Ward alderman, Philip Voigt. The Board of Aldermen staff captured the event with these pictures.

Thomas Lehtonen is congratulated by Voigt's widow, Democratic Town Chairwoman Susan Voigt.

“Yale Did the Right Thing”

Yale responded to a protest by Chinese graduate students by enabling the student at the center of the protest to enable to stay on campus and in the country. Following is the text of a press release by the protest’s organizers praising Yale for doing “the right thing” in this case and outlining what some more of the “right thing” would entail.

DeStefano: A Plan for Kids Is Coming

DeStefano visited with pre-school kids at a press conference Monday.Yes, kids need more to do in New Haven, Mayor John DeStefano acknowledged this week. DeStefano, who has taken heat in recent months on the issue amid a spurt in youth violence, said his administration is working on a new comprehensive policy on youth.

In between blistering attacks on his record, the Guilty Party's Blatteau shared a laugh with Mayor Destefano at last night's debate at Wexler School.After attacking New Haven’s mayor for considering a plan to offer i.d. cards to undocumented immigrants, Guilty Party mayoral candidate Leslie Harper Blatteau (shown here with the mayor at last week’s debate) has switched gears. She now endorses the plan.
