Epstein Votes No

New Haven Police Detective Clarence Willoughby, who is facing trial for larceny and forgery, was approved for a $58,541 pension in a six-to-one vote by the trustees of the Policemen and Firemen’s Retirement Fund Board on Tuesday morning. The only nay was cast by Rick Epstein (pictured), the chair of the Board of Police Commissioners, who also sits on the pension board.

Custodians vs. Aramark: Round 2

The Board of Education is probably not interested in correcting its unionized custodians’ punctuation with the required comma for the appositive (“Hey, Aramark!”). The custodians are getting their point across, anyway, with this billboard that faces BOE headquarters across Union Avenue.

A taxi driver showed up to collect someone at 70 Clinton Ave. at 8:37 p.m. Tuesday. Here’s what happened, according to police:
The “patron” didn’t get in the back— he opened the driver’s side door. He simulated a gun and demanded cash or he would “blow the driver’s head off.” The cabbie turned over some cash.

Rell, Dems Spar On Charter Oak
