On Friday’s episode of WNHH radio’s “Cannoli Knish Sports Hour,” we get a glimpse into Knish’s home life and the trials and errors of raising an 11-year-old sports fan. The hosts then moved on to the possible fate of the Mets this season and started a helpline for a bereaved fan after the Yankees’ loss to the Astros — and wondered whether fantasy football will now be regulated in the wake of the current scandal.
“Has there been a run on DraftKings?” Knish said, meaning a bank run. DraftKings and FanDuel, fantasy football websites, are being sued for fraud and negligence after it came to light that each company was letting its employees participate in games on the other’s website.
Meanwhile, part of the decline in Yankees support, they reasoned, might be thanks to the price of seats.
“True Yankees fans can’t afford those tickets,” said Cousin Mitch from New Jersey, who called in to join Cannoli and Knish. But according to him, the biggest factor is the loss of former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. What happened to the Roman Empire? Knish asked. “Caesar passed away,” Cousin Mitch said.
