The winter solstice saw the beginning of a 12-day arts happening at the West Village Apartments next to the Y on Howe Street.
Now art lovers can go to a new “opening” every day through the end of the year.
It’s the latest case of art coming to the spot. (Click here for the most recent other example.)
Bill Saunders, who put together the next gradually unfolding exhibit, sent in the video as well as the following “5Ws” skinny:
What: An Art Advent - A Progressive Unwrapping features the work of 12 area painters, who will hang 12 gift-wrapped paintings around a seasonal tree. Beginning on the Winter Solstice, Dec. 21st, one painting will be opened each day through New Year’s in a true celebration of The Holiday Presence. No one knows what this show is going to ultimately look like. We will see what happens when you leave things up to the artists…..
Where: Gallery Howe, West Village Apartments, 52 Howe St.
When: Openings daily at 7:30 p.m. through Jan. 1. Then the full show runs until Jan. 31.
Who: A new painting will be unveiled daily by:
Dec 21—Erich Davis—“Love You”
Dec. 22—Kwadwo Adae
Dec. 23—Barbara Hawes
Dec. 24—Teresa Fortsch
Dec. 25—Katro Storm
