16-Year-Old Turns Himself In For Hit-&-Run

A 16-year-old turned himself in to police and admitted he drove the car that struck at 17-year-old pedestrian at Whalley and the Boulevard Saturday night.

The pedestrian’s condition remains critical but stable,” according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Another hit-and-run driver struck a 5‑year-old boy who was riding a bike on Arch Street shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday. The boy’s injuries were described as minor. Officer Brandon Anzalone subsequently pulled over the alleged hit-and-run driver’s car; the driver and a passenger admitted they’d changed places after the collision, according to Hartman.

And a commotion broke out at 2:30 a.m. at Premier Hotel and Suites on Long Wharf Drive. Hartman describes it this way:

Hotel security overheard an argument within a group of men and women. The argument soon led to gunfire.

No one was struck however a bullet went through the hotel wall, through room 1411 and into the headboard of the bed where a guest was sleeping. A State of CT DCF van in the parking lot had a rear window shot out and a hole in the windshield where it’s suspected the bullet exited. A woman who lives on Jackson Lane phoned police from home to report her car was damaged by gunfire as she left the hotel property.

Witnesses reported a group of men – three to five — were spotted running from the area when the gunfire stopped. Also seen fleeing was a small white car containing several women.”
