How dumb. That's all I can think of.

They fired into the air in an urban area? They are extremely lucky no one died or was injured. Bullets don't just disappear in the air after you fire them. These people need to lose their jobs. I guarantee that, had I done that, I would have lost my pistol permit in a second.

Oh my what a stupid thing to do good thing they did not hurt anyone. I would of lost my permit if it was me. Wonder if they will still have a job when this is over.

Do they claim to have been firing in the air for any particular reason, or just for fun?

Firing their guns while drunk? You have to be kidding me. Demotions at least, if not fired.

And where did this lead come down. In a car or a person, to add to the list of persons shot this year.

This is disgusting. These alleged criminals should be fired immediately once the crime is proven. All it takes is one of those bullets to come back down on a human and you have a homicide.

Now we have to dodge speeding police cars and police bullets? If these two are not fired it will set a scary example for the city and the rest of the police department.

Why were these cops not arrested as a civilian would have been?

The two officer are good officers, it makes me sad to see this has happened. I met one of them many many years ago when my ex stold my kids christmas present from my home when I was at work. This is a kind caring man that really cares about the city. Takes the extra step. I met the newer one Kim last week when I had an issue with one of the occupiers he impressed me. Seemed to again really care. I understand everyone's wanting them fired. It was a DUMB ASS stunt. I am going to be in the minority but I do not think that losing 2 good officers because they had a stupid moment is the answer. Do I think something should happen, heck yes. But again good cops that really care are a rear commodity.

These may have been good cops once. If this is true they are no longer 'good cops', they are criminals.

Myself or anyone of my neighbors could have been murdered by a police Officer Sunday night and you believe that they deserve a second chance?

Zero tolerance just the way it would be for anyone else who fired a gun off in public. Its a criminal offense and they should not only lose their jobs if true, they should be imprisoned.

A gun and badge does not guarantee " good common sense". These kids are recruited from the human race. They did something really dumb that could have change there life and someone's else forever if they had shot someone. Should they be punished without a doubt. If you can't trust them to be mature and responsible off duty how can one trust them to do the right thing when on duty. I'm sure they have sobered up and are now thinking about the future consequences.

I was awake and heard the shots, but thought it was some other sort of noise and almost looked out my window to see what happened. If that bullet had gone through my window, or one of my neighbor's windows, would you still feel the way you do?

I did not know either of them before, but I do not view them as "2 good officers" after a stupid stunt like this. As officers, they must be held to a higher standard by society. The lapse of judgement required to rapidly shoot your gun - after drinking - in a residential neighborhood does not make me feel positive about either of them.


CGS Sec. 53-203: "Unlawful discharge of firearms. Any person who intentionally, negligently or carelessly discharges any firearm in such a manner as to be likely to cause bodily injury or death to persons or domestic animals, or the wanton destruction of property shall be fined not more than two hundred fifty dollars or imprisoned not more than three months or both."

Again, I want to know why they weren't arrested.

None of us are truly as good as our best moments, nor as bad as our worst. It's entirely possible that a good cop and an idiot who would fire a gun in the air in a crowded residential neighborhood can be the same person.

That said, the fitness of these men to serve as police officers is seriously in question. Jobs as police officers are <i>very</i> competitive. I doubt there will any shortage of well-qualified candidates to take their places.

Question : Is a bullet fired into the air dangerous?

Answer : Yes. The speed required for skin penetration and bone fracture is between 148 and 197 feet per second. Some calibers in certain wind conditions are capable of returning at 600 feet per second.

Question : Could it kill you?

Answer: Most certainly Yes.

Again I said I was in the minority. I was just sharing my opinion. popular or not it is how I feel. We can not always think the same. And should not be hindered to express our feelings even if they differ from the more popular ones.

Unless they were on duty then they are the same as a private citizen. Why does their day job matter at all? Or for that matter if they are "nice" and "polite"?

Isn't the only thing that is relavant here is if they discharged guns in a residential neighborhood early in the morning, endangering life and property, for no lawful purpose?

If so then they should go to jail, and hopefully be fired for cause.

Is anyone going to trace back through the chain of command to determine if these officers' firearm training was sufficient?
