One man was in critical condition with a collapsed lung, another paralyzed by gunshots to the back, after separate shootings.

Here’s what happened, according to the police:

The first shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday. Gunshots were reported at Chambers and Ferry streets in Fair Haven. Then a 23-year-old man showed up at Yale-New Haven’s emergency room with a single wound to his upper chest; he told cops some people tried to rob him, then shot him. He’s listed in critical condition with the collapsed lung.

Later Wednesday, at 8:53 p.m., police came across a 27-year-old man behind Dixwell Plaza. He’d been shot four times, in the upper and lower back. Police termed his non-life-threatening but predicted the shooting would leave him paralyzed.

Have any info on the shootings? Call the cops at 203-946-6316 or 203-946-6304.
