HIGC, these two homicides represent the 8th & 9th this year in New Haven. The majority of previous years saw those numbers at double digits by the end of the summer. Nine is nine too many, to be sure, but to have decreased the homicide rate so significantly, the police department and city government have clearly done more than "hire overtime for about three days and sing Kumbaya."

I know some may not understand this but I have a question. How come when it is black on black murders there is no protest across the country or marches going on. Why is it ONLY when a white officer kills a young Afro American is there marches and black lives matter marches everywhere? I have been waiting for Jesse Jackson or Rev Al to come to New haven since Tuesday, now let a white police officer had done this wow. Someone out there help me with this issue

iamwhoiam- I doubt you given any real thought to your question. Otherwise it would be obvious as to the difference between the two. Police officers are paid by the public and are there to protect and serve- not to kill or brutalize those they are sworn to protect. The reasons for police brutality may be myriad but clearly are rooted in the effects of racism.

In a different way, black on black crime is also rooted in racism. But I am not going to go into detail on that – you need to do a little homework yourself.. And if you think Sharpton and Jackson are not involved in trying to stop that violence as well, then you haven't done much research on them either.

westville man- first of all i never knew police officers are paid to protect and serve our inner city youths and all people across the country..second can you tell me when the last time they was a march, not a meeting or tv cameras around for black on black crime? third..EVERYTIME a police officer kills an Afro American there are marches for days across the country, all o am saying is that same engery need to be applied when its black on black crime..and last but not least if you could only see the racism you speak of in our police dept who are paid to SERVE AND PROTECT..so westville man i ask you have you REALLY done any research into what you are saying? Here is a bit of info for you..there have been almost 1200 murders at the hands of police across this country so far this year alone, how many black on black murders have there been this year across this country? It is an debate that should happen and soon with real solutions..

@iamwhoiam- have you not yet figured out that the media does everything in its power to highlight the negative when it comes to the subject of black on black crime, but because it doesnt fit their agenda, they NEVER show the rallies, the men walking kids to school in Chicago to make sure they are safe. They never showed the black Fraternity that held a stop the violence rally in Chicago after the 9yr old boy was murdered by a gang member. CRIME in and of itself is a problem, but the media loves to put black crime wayyyy out in front for everyone to continue to stereotype us and most time, white america falls right into it.

@cantsufferfools- regardless who you want to blame there is a serious issue with black on black murders, i am hoping you not saying otherwise. Also you speak of Chicago check the black on black murder rate there, its truly disgusting. If white America is the blame or lack of education, positive roles models, after school programs Whatever is the caused it needs to be addressed..do you say otherwise? I am going to be honest I do not know what the solutions are but something needs to be done or soon it wont be anymore black on black murders cause we would have killed each other off. I am not talking about White America agenda, hey whats on OUR agenda to stop this madness? Check Chicago black on black murder rate, check the age of the offender and victim age, it is truly sad to say the least. Besides walking kids to school or holding rallies what else are we doing? And then to top it off we are losing brothers, uncles, cousins over non sense and oh yea its some white america agenda..we need to do better as people of color
