The current president of Newhall Gardens senior complex, Mrs. Louise Pearsall, will be celebrating her 85th birthday on Saturday.

Mrs. Pearsall has been the president of Newhall Gardens for over 21 years. Throughout the years, Mrs. Pearsall has shown her love and compassion for the residents at Newhall Gardens Senior Complex by preparing meals for them and holding annual holiday parties.

Mrs. Pearsall expressed her desire to use her life to help and serve those who most need it: My mission is helping people, God has blessed me by giving me the desire and ability to help others.”

Mrs. Pearsall was born on May 10, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama. She moved to New Haven in the 1940s. She and her late husband, Benjamin Pearsall Jr., raised two sons and one niece: son Benjamin Pearsall II, niece Samarion Tremble and son Andrew Pearsall, who passed in 1995. Mrs. Pearsall also worked for New Haven Housing Authority in the position of commissioner, and for Yale University as manager of hospitality and entertainment at the Morse College Master’s House.

Mrs. Pearsall is the last living founding mother of First Calvary Baptist Church on Dixwell Avenue. Mrs. Pearsall also enjoys planting and beautifying the landscape around Newhall Gardens community room. Stand with us in celebrating the life and legacy of Mrs. Louise Pearsall.
