A Lucky” Coronation

Wilbur Cross High School students didn’t need to call Hot 93.7 to hear the rapper Anoyd perform his hot single Lucky”— he was in the hall to sing it himself.

Anoyd and another hot act, Sydney Renae, came to the recent annual Coronation Ball at Cross and performed, for free. Ronald Huggy Bear” Huggins, who hosted the Nov. 18 event, sent in this write-up about it, as well as a round-up about a Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Youth Continuum, an agency that works with at-risk young people:

There were about 900 students in attendance for this event, which lasted from 6 – 10 p.m. with no problems at all. School security, school resource officers (police), deans, teachers and volunteers all gave their time to ensure this event was smooth.

The theme of collaboration between the two artists, who wanted to do something for their fan base, was shown throughout the night. Sydney Renae, who is a teen sensation came from New York, performed and took pictures with everyone who wanted to. In addition, she advised all the students to follow their dreams and know that anything they want to accomplish can be done. Sydney got her motivation to sing from having a pure genuine love for music. She said her biggest venue she’s performed at has been the Youtube stage, with over 50 million Youtube views. At the coronation, she performed her songs Don’t,” Tell Her,” Into You,” and How You Gonna.”

Also, Connecticut’s own Anoyd came and performed his single Lucky,” which is blowing up on the air and is the number-one requested song on Hot 93.7. Anoyd also shared some of the same message to students that they can become anything they set out their mind to.

I also emceed the event and had DJ LS as my sound guy. I encouraged the students to have a good night and know that every decision they make now is critical to their tomorrow. Also, the Mayor’s Office provided both artists with a proclamation and a thank you for doing this event for students.

Kingdom Love Center Ministries partnersedwith Youth Continuum to provide Thanksgiving Dinner for its clients and their families for the second year. This event took place Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Youth Continuum Grand Avenue office. Popeyes assisted with chicken; patrons from the church cooked and delivered it to help make Thanksgiving possible for others.

The church also gave out Thanksgiving Dinner supplies to over 125 families on the same day at their church located at 19 George St. in Hamden. The supplies given out were enough to provide families with dinner not just for Thanksgiving, but for the whole week.
