You might sneeze more if you were in Louisville or Oklahoma City. But in Connecticut, at least, New Haven is the allergy capital.

That’s according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

The group just published an annual ranking of U.S. cities with the “most challenging” environments for spring allergies based on pollen counts and medication usage. New Haven rose to number 29 on the list out of 100 cities, up from number 38 last year. It passed Hartford, which last year ranked as Connecticut’s sneeziest metropolis.

Asthma has long been a major problem in Connecticut cities. Some activists have urged policymakers in New Haven to take pollution into account more in considering development proposals like the current “Route 34 West” plan.
