An estranged husband shot his wife in Naugatuck, then shot himself in the head after cops caught up with him in New Haven’s Hill neighborhood, police said. Update: The man died Friday morning.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:
Naugatuck police learned Thursday afternoon that the man had shot his wife in the back. She informed the police of his identity and went to the hospital for treatment.
Naugatuck and state police tracked the man’s cell phone signal to New Haven. The Naugatuck cops “spotted [his] car on West Street heading toward Congress Avenue.”
The man saw the cops and stopped. A Naugatuck police SUV collided with his car. Inside his car, the man shot himself in the head. He later died of his injuries at the hospital.
