When the sun rose Monday, another Honda Fit in East Rock was missing its wheels.
The car was outside 98 Bishop St. Thieves appear to have stolen the wheels sometime overnight.
It was the latest in a rash of thefts of Honda Fits wheels, which are smaller than most other cars’ wheels.
This was the first Fit to be hit in more than a week, said Lt. Ken Blanchard, East Rock’s top cop. He reiterated that people should buy lug-nut locks for their Hondas; and that “if they do see something strange in their neighborhoods, call the police. If they see a car driving around slowly and they’re out after midnight and it doesn’t look like it belongs in the area, call the police so we can check it out.”

Don't really get why these wheels are so much in demand
Would seem that cars with larger regular wheels would have a different bolt arrangement not appropriate for tiny Honda- Fits wheels
If they do fit, it seems that the ride on non-Hondas would be quite bumpy and that bumpers, tailpipes and mufflers and other low-hanging parts of the car would likely be damaged in use.
My theory is that gas mileage would also drop a bit too as the car would move a bit less with the smaller circumference tires with each revolution of the engine,
Don't claim to re an expert, but why do so many crooks want them?
