Monday, July 6

Dinosaur Tour

The Peabody on the Road traveling exhibit is at the Fair Haven branch of New Haven Free Public Library at 4 p.m. Good thing, because the actual Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, on Whitney Ave., is closed Mondays. Hands-on artifacts in the traveling exhibit include a dinosaur tooth and some bear fur. 182 Grand Ave.

Scrub Stars

Craft heroic soap sculptures” — that is, statues of superheroes carved from soap — 3 p.m. at the main (Ives) New Haven Free Public Library. 133 Elm St., New Haven. (203) 946‑2282.

Seth Outside

A Dangerous Woman”
The Yale Summer Cabaret has devised a new theater piece based on the life and career of the 19th century performer and artist Adah Isaacs Menken, who was known for her nude-seeming horse-riding stunt in the stage version of Lord Byron’s Mazeppa. love holds a lamp in this little room, conceived and directed by Leora Morris, has 11 performances starting tonight and ending July 18 at 217 Park St. $25, $14 students.

Friday, July 10

Voicing Art
The opening reception for the new exhibit at City Gallery (994 State St.) is today from noon to 4 p.m. The group show is titled Voicings,” and the artists are Meg Bloom, Phyllis Crowley, Kathy Kane, and Karen Wheeler.

The Bells Bells Bells Bells Bells Bells Bells
The Summer Carillon Concert Series at Yale is that rare live musical performance where the audience can’t see the musicians perform. Many listeners congregate in Branford College Courtyard, 74 High St. (though you can hear the carillon for several blocks throughout downtown) to hear the bells peal from Harkness Tower, also on High Street between Chapel and Elm. Tonight’s featured performer is a Yale undergrad, Lynnli Wang. 7 p.m. Free.

Ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum

It’s been 40 years since that woman swam naked. There are anniversary screening of Jaws at 7 p.m. &10 p.m. at Lyric Hall Theater, 827 Whalley Ave.

Social Graces

Gordon Skinner performs Society Fuct,” a performance art piece that debuted in March at a different New Haven art gallery, 5 p.m. at Kehler Liddell Gallery (873 Whalley Ave.) in Westville. The show’s described as a powerful unapologetic interpretation of visual art that combines the elements of poetry, theatre and social commentary as one body of work.” It derives from a zine Skinner published with poets Tenisi Davis and Atallah Sheppard.

Sunday, July 12

Artist in Charge
Today’s the opening reception for the new Artist as Curator 2” exhibit at Kehler Liddell Gallery (873 Whalley Ave.). The concept is that established artists act as curators for other artists. The reception is from 3 to 6 p.m. The exhibit runs through Aug. 30.

I Love My Baby Cause She Does Good Sculptures

1970s Scottish punk-pop parodists The Rezillos are on a reunion tour. Their 3 p.m. show this afternoon at Cafe Nine (250 State St.) features an extra bonus 80s East Coast reunion — of Lost Generation, the legendary Connecticut punk outfit led by Joe Dias. (203) 789‑8281.
