The Housing Authority of New Haven (HANH) distributed “close to 500 backpacks and school supplies” at its first-ever “Back to School Fair” Wednesday, according to spokeswoman Jasmin Franjul.
Along with music and “activities and snacks for the kids,” the fair, held at 295 Wilmot Rd. in the West Rock neighborhood, featured some information-sharing with families about “education and health/wellness community resources from partners such as Yale-New Haven Hospital, Solar Youth, Columbia Dental, New Haven Parks and Recreation, the New Haven Free Public Library, Boys & Girls Club of New Haven, United Illuminating, New Haven Fire Department, Beyond Fitness and Community Health Network’s Cooking Matters,” Franjul reported.
