A driver flew into a Quinnipiac Avenue car wash Sunday — literally.
A Honda went airborne after it struck another Honda shortly around 1:20 p.m., and it landed inside El Mexicano Car Wash on Quinnipiac Avenue. It wrecked the place.
“Nobody was hurt, thank God,” according to city Building Official Jim Turcio, who went to the scene. The car wash is adjacent to a gas station.
Turcio said if the owners want to rebuild, they’ll have to put in a better electrical system. He shut down the place for now.
“The electric is a mess. There are no shut offs. We had to go to the gas station” to cut off the electricity at the car wash, Turcio said.
This is a shame. But I hope they rebuild with a new electrical system. Good time to do it. There is a old joke about a flood, fire, and storm. Now how to get the first 2 but the 3rd is hard to get. Now a car with wings.!!! Ads a new part to the joke. Glad no one was hurt.
