Do you know Chartlon Comics? Clue: the publishers met in lockup.
Keith Larsen and Jackie Zbuska know Charlton Comics — well. The two are making a documentary about the business, a legendary — or is it infamous? — publishing house in Derby launched by John Santangelo, Sr. and Ed Levy in 1945, after the two served sentences at the New Haven County jail. The documentarians joined Eugene Driscoll and Ethan Fry on WNHH radio’s “Valley Navel Gazing” to speak about their work.
As U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy was out and about riding the Waterbury line — another topic of discussion — the duo also chatted up Pastor Walt Mayhew about the upcoming “Derby’s BEST 5K Run-Walk,” an event to raise money for Derby Public Schools.
