Conde-Nast Dopes Malign Our City

Get this logic: Despite having warm and fuzzy Yale University in our midst, New Haven still somehow ranks as the third-unfriendliest city in … the country.

Yep. Less friendly” than L.A. or Albany. Not to mention Detroit.

That’s the conclusion of Conde-Nast Traveler. It put New Haven right near the top of its new least-friendly city list for travelers.

Who said we want their snooty travelers anyway?

The write-up: New Haven is the home of Yale, which some thank for the city’s cultural activities. But according to our readers, having an Ivy League school doesn’t make the town any more amiable. The people are rude, unfriendly folks,’ according to one reader.”

You know what we could say to that one reader. But that would be rude. Unfriendly, even.

Conde-Nast makes no mention, of course, of New Haven’s welcoming status as a de facto sanctuary city for immigrants harassed and bullied out of other cities. Or our walking-beat cops. Or the volunteer barbers for the homeless on the Green. Guess none of their friends” read Conde-Nast Traveler.
