Cop Tires Slashed

(Updated: 5:06 p.m.) A female officer directing traffic at Lamberton and Morris in the Hill Monday was struck by a motorist shortly after 8:30 a.m., according to mayoral spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga. The officer suffered “very minor injuries” and went to the Hospital of St. Raphael, Mayorga said.
The officer, Waleska Bermudez, was released the same morning. The driver was charged with disobeying an officer’s signal; police said Bermudez instructed the driver to stop at a construction area.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, someone slashed a whole bunch of police tires and got away—for now.
At 2 p.m. an employee of the police lock-up noticed the slasher at work. The slasher fled. The employee hopped in a car and followed him onto I-95 south. State cops joined the chase. However, they all lost the car.
Still, the police do have a video of the slasher at work and are continuing to look for him, according to Mayorga.
The slasher cut 28 tires on 15 police vehicles, including the DWI van and a state marshal’s van.

Most likely, the perp is a new haven resident who just woke up to his monster property tax hike, slashing out against the DeStefanatti. He was trying to find City Hall, but got as close as he could.

And at 2am Saturday, police vehicles chased a suspect the wrong direction up Lewis Street, ending at the intersection of Lewis and Pine, where the suspect’s car crashed into a tree. This is the second time in about ten days . . . 9 police vehicles to subdue one individual.

Are New Haven police allowed to pursue the wrong way down a one way street? I only moved here in 2004 but where I am from,NYC, cops were not allowed to do this due to obvious public safety issues.
As far as the tire slashing goes. It was probably someone who feels they were wronged by the police department. Maybe someone who was arrested by the NHPD on trumped up charges of “interfering” or some other nonsense thug cops use to intimidate and harass the public. Most career criminals won’t go out of their way to antagonize the police no matter how much they hate the cops. It might even be another cop who has a grudge against the NHPD.
