A woman was getting out of her car behind 441 Chapel St. at 11:31 p.m. Saturday when a man came up to her. Here’s what happened, according to police:
He showed a knife and demanded her keys. She was robbed of her pocketbook and 2003 Hyundai car. Cops later found and chased the car on Fair Haven’s Ferry Street. Suspects ditched the car at Ferry and Pine. Cops arrested a man who had the victim’s credit cards in his pants pocket.
Also according to police this weekend:
Domino’s Heist
A lone employee at the Domino’s Pizza at 357 Whalley Ave. told police that two men burst into the store at 12:37 p.m. Sunday. One displayed a handgun and ordered the employee to the ground. The suspect took the keys to the employee’s Toyota Camry and sped off in it.
Edgewood Break-In
Someone broke into the Chabad at Yale, a religious meeting place for Jewish students, at 37 Edgewood Ave. overnight Saturday. Items stolen included a desktop computer. Cops caught up with and arrested suspect, a 40-year-old man from Grand Avenue, Sunday afternoon.
Mugged in Newhallville
Two reports of armed robberies at 578 Winchester came one after another on Sunday, at 11:35 and 11:36 p.m. One caller described a mugging by three teenage boys with a shotgun; the other said there were five men with a shotgun that was used to strike the victim on the head.
