Man Carjacked, Abducted

A man reported being robbed and abducted in his car on Saturday in Fair Haven.

Fourteen hours after the carjacking, he went to the Verizon store to cancel service for his stolen iPhone, and store employees encouraged him to call the police and report the incident, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Officer Christopher Alvarado went to the Verizon store to take down the man’s statement. The man told Alvarado that he had returned home from work at about midnight in his 2003 Nissan Exterra. He said he pulled into his driveway and upon getting out of the car was confronted by four masked men. One of the men demanded his money. Another in the gang held a knife in his hand,” Hartman’s report stated. The leader of the group punched the victim in the face, as the others robbed him.

The man said he was then forced into the back seat of his car as the robbers drove around Fair Haven for about an hour and continually badgered him for money and valuables.” After an hour, he said they left him and the car on Grafton Street before running away.

He said they stole his phone, cash and gold necklace.

The police are still investigating this case. The man said he would not be able to identify his attackers if he saw them again.
