Police are looking for a “red or burgundy colored sedan (possibly a Nissan Maxima or Altima)” and a teenager who was riding in it, after a shoot-out that occurred Monday morning at Butler and Read streets in Newhallville.
Witnesses told police that 19-year-old Brandon Shealy was “walking with a group” when someone inside that vehicle “began shooting,” and someone with Shealy “returned fire,” according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman. A bullet struck Shealy in the buttocks.
Shealy was undergoing surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital and was reported in stable condition. The bullets also hit “an unoccupied parked vehicle and a house,” Hartman reported.
Police released this description of the shooter based on witness accounts: “a black teenage male who looks to be 17 to 19 years old. He stands about 5’ 07” to 5’ 08” and has a thin to average build. His hair is short. He wore a white T‑shirt and denim blue jeans.” Anyone with information on the incident can call detectives at (203) 946‑6304.
