Cops Trade Vests For Aprons

You can tip a cop at lunch or dinner Friday — and help the Special Olympics in the process.

That’s the latest law-enforcement news, courtesy of police spokesman Officer David Hartman. Here’s what he wrote:

The day before the New Haven Police Department’s Tip-a-Cop fund-raiser was to take place, a devastating fire destroyed Delaney’s
Restaurant. Delaney’s was to host the charity event to benefit the CT Special Olympics. Sadly, the iconic pub was destroyed in the three alarm
blaze and the find-raiser would be searching for a replacement venue.

The New Haven Police Department was lucky and quickly found a new host. The Tip-a-Cop event is being held today, September 19, 2014 from noon
until 8:00 p.m. at Lucky Chao Restaurant, 27 Temple Street (corner of Temple & Crown Streets).

New Haven Police Officers will temporarily trade their vests for aprons as they do their best to survive a different type of service industry.
Their Training Officers will be the professional staff from Lucky Chao who will oversee the operation.

The tips left for the Officers will be donated to the CT Special Olympics from the Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Please come down for lunch or dinner, enjoy a meal and tip generously to support this worthwhile effort. Your generosity will make a
difference. Reservations are suggested for larger dinner parties and can be made by calling the restaurant at 203 – 535-0742.”
