Contributed Photo For the fourth straight year, custodians are ponying up to give holiday gift cards to kids whose public schools they clean.

Members of AFSCME Local 287 presented the gifts—32 $25 debit cards—this week to 16 randomly chosen schools. The cards are good at any stores that take debit cards. Principals at the schools choose which kids get the cards.

“We work for the schools and the students,” local Vice-President Mark Bohannon, High School in the Community’s head custodian, stated in a release saying. “This is a way for us to give back to the community that employs us. We hope the gifts will bring some smiles to the kids’ faces.”
