A dirt-bike rider hit a 4‑year-old boy in Circuolo Park, then sped away.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Sunday.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:
The child was playing by the sidewalk of the Fair Haven park in his mother’s care when a “reckless operator of a small red- and black dirt bike” struck him, then sped north.
Officers and EMTs arrived at 4:09, and the boy was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital. He had fractured his leg.
So far cops haven’t succeeded in locating the rider or video footage. They ask anyone with information to call police at 203 – 946-6304 or 203 – 946-6316. One witness described the dirt biker “as an Hispanic man, heavy-set, who wore a black shirt and black cargo style shorts. He has curly hair and a reddish colored beard.”
What kind of disgusting, vile, worthless human being does that to a little boy? My neighborhood is riddled with these annoying motorized lawn mowers, call the police and by the time the police are able to get here, they are long gone.
