@Zoe Matthiessen - well, you kinda made my point here. If Hillary's also a narcissist (as are most people whose entire lives revolve entirely around their ambition for high office and power), then a President Hillary's narcissism would be a non-topic for you because she's better on environmental issues? So make your drawings about environmental policy, because it has nothing to do with narcissism.
And your depiction of a naked portly Trump (replete with an offensive inclusion of the tip of a small penis) makes one wonder how you would view a similar depiction of a naked Hillary, with all her body flaws. Can't imagine you would do that since others who did it were rightly attacked for indecency - and misogyny.
Zoe:
You have the absolute right to express your opinion and I, for one, am happy to see yours expressed in such a compelling artistic manner. We live in an era in which having an opinion has become 'dangerous'--which is exactly why so many people are afflicted with crippling apathy. Certain elements of society are concerned about 'safe rooms' and 'trigger warnings' rather than experiencing the pleasure of an intelligent discourse which may--gasp!--challenge their preconceived notions. That's called learning--growing--evolving. Without such experiences, we stagnate and are but empty, brittle vessels prone to shattering at the slightest criticism. It's easier to burrow deep into a foxhole than to stick your head above it and risk taking a hit--you have repeatedly demonstrated in the pages of the Independent that you are willing to invest your time and artistic skills in something that matters to you; that is laudable. Art, for me, is at its best when it challenges--when it forces one to pause and consider their opinions. Your art won't be loved by everyone, but perhaps it will make them think about their beliefs and why they feel as they do, and if that means taking a few hits from critics at least you can look yourself in the mirror at the end of the day knowing that instead of just hunkering down you've stood tall. Critics are meaningless to one who has integrity and conviction--and you have both. You're a fine artist and an outstanding addition to the Independent. Keep your head raised high, and keep churning out those brilliant--and challenging--illustrations. Society needs more people like you--willing to risk attack for what they believe. Maybe you're wrong--maybe you're right, but one thing is certain: you have an option, you have skills and your illustrations are a helluva lot of fun. Draw on! Forward, march!
@wmmgladstone. Seems some actually think depicting the president naked like that is "art" and "intelligent discourse." These same people were just fine with Kathy Griffin's Isis-like holding of the president's severed head. Yeah, a real "learning, growing, experience" that was, one that contributes to "intelligent discourse." What that did accomplish was a learning for Griffin herself...
Hillary's been on a 9-month whine tour, and is now showing up in Costco warehouses to sell her book, which offers up all the bogeymen (and "white women") who deprived her of her inevitable and undeniable right to be president because she was so destined for it, so qualified for it, blah blah. So, who's the narcissist?
