Exchange Club Salutes Cops Of The Week

One solves murders, doggedly keeping at cases long after too many people have forgotten the victims. Another has mastered the mind games crooks play when trying to avoid arrest. A third catches up with dirt bikers — on foot.

You’ve read about New Haven homicide Detective Mike Wuchek, Officer Juan Ingles and walking-beat cop Carlos Conceicao as Independent cops of the week.”

Now they’re getting honored again, along with a other officers from West Haven’s (Sean Faughnan and Tammy Murray) and Yale’s (Rich Simons) police departments.

The honoring is scheduled to take place Tuesday, May 8, at Amarante’s, where the Exchange Club presents a salute to the finest” from greater New Haven. The event begins at 6 p.m.; tickets cost $40 apiece. The New Haven County Firefighters Emerald Society Pipes and Drums Band and Studio BE will perform.

The Exchange Club was a once-prominent civic organization that declined over the past few decades. It is now in the process of reemerging, with an active core of new members.
