A car and a motorcycle collided on Dixwell Avenue Wednesday evening, killing a 25-year-old motorcyclist.
Here’s what happened according to police spokesman Officer Dave Hartman:
At 6:49 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Pond Street on a report of an accident. A Chevrolet Camaro had collided with a motorcycle. The 25-year-old biker, Hamden’s Christopher Ferguson, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation found that the 30-year-old Camaro driver had been heading north on Dixwell Avenue. The motorcyclist was headed south. The car made a left on to Pond Street. “The motorcycle operator, who was traveling toward the car, was ejected from the bike prior to the collision. The bike traveled some distance and the motorcycle operator struck the car,” Hartman said.
The police department’s Crash Investigation Unit is probing the accident. The police have not determined the cause of the crash or who was at fault.
NHI, was the cyclist wearing a helmet?
