Frank L. Beck, (Ernie) 76

Frank L. Beck, (Ernie) 76, of Hamden passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Connecticut Hospice after a brief illness.

Frank was born on December 30, 1938 in Augusta, GA to the late Frederico I. Beck and Laura P. (Edwards) Beck. During his youth the family relocated to New Haven, CT. A 1957 graduate of James Hillhouse High School, Frank was known for his academic and athletic abilities. Frank enlisted in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1961. Shortly after his stint in the Army and upon his return to New Haven, Mr. Beck married the beautiful Evelyn Elaine Smith in 1962. In pursuit of his scholarly goals, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Connecticut State University and attained an MBA Degree from Harvard University. His employment career began with The New Haven Housing Authority and concluded with his employ with the management team of SNET/AT&T where he worked until his retirement.

Committed to serving his community, Mr. Beck joined the Chi Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; actively supported the Freddie Fixer Parade for many years through the Dixwell Community “Q” House; and served on the Board of Directors for the Hamden YMCA. Predeceased by his wife, Evelyn, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons Scott L. Beck (Kathy) and Jarrad T. Beck both of Hamden, CT; brothers Raymond (Jaye) Beck of Wilmington, DE, Charles “Chucky” Beck of Mattapan, MA and Kevin (Lisa) Beck of Hamden, CT; sisters Angela (Curtiss) Anderson of Bloomfield, CT and Carol (Sid) Jones of New Haven, CT; granddaughters Scotland Aubrie Beck and Graysen Elaine Beck of Hamden, CT. Additionally, he leaves his sister in-law and brother in-law, Dorinda and John Sizemore and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 9-11 a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe Street, New Haven, CT 06511. A celebration of his life will take place immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden, CT. Services are entrusted to Howard K.
