After a month-long search, police caught up with a man who allegedly held a woman captive in a Hill neighborhood apartment and beat her.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:
Early Thursday U.S. Marshals teamed up with the city’s narc squad to make the arrest at a house on Rock Creek Road. Officer John Palmer of the New Haven police led the team that tracked down the 25-year-old man.
The man was wanted in connection with a Dec. 20 incident in which he allegedly held and beat a woman inside an apartment in the Church Street South housing projects. The SWAT team was called to respond, but the man had already fled. The victim had two black eyes and bruises over much of her body, police said. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The man was charged with kidnapping, assault, unlawful restraint, and strangulation. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
