The Pursell family met up with Joe Ugly’s crew Wednesday on Elm Street in New Haven. They hadn’t seen or heard of each other before. Then they found themselves singing in harmony.
The Pursell family was on the 36-hour WNHH “Great Give” radiothon helping local not-for-profits raise money through an event organized by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.
Like other guests making pitches, the Pursells had to sing for their supper. They chose to sing a song in honor of their late mother, a nurse who graduated from Hillhouse. After she died, they created a scholarship fund for Hillhouse students in their memory.
