Hoops Court Stabbing

An argument during a pick-up game at the Edgewood Park basketball court Thursday led one man to one man pull a knife and stab the other through the rib cage and arm.”

So reported police spokesman Officer David Hartman. Police responded to the incident at 5:45 p.m. The uncooperative victim” went to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds. The cops are investigating.

They’re also investigating a shooting that took place at 8:20 p.m. on Dickerman Street. A 42-year-old man was shot in the leg.

And around 5:20 p..m., someone got out of a silver colored Honda CRV (registered in Orange) around 185 Eastern St., walked to a nearby field, shot off a few rounds and high-tailed it toward Bouchet Lane. A while later, he returned to the car and drove toward Jackson Lane,” Hartman reported. No one was hurt.

Carjacking

A 68-year-old father and his daughter went to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries on Wednesday after being attacked during a carjacking. Here’s what happened, according to Hartman:

It began shortly before 10 a.m. The father said he had pulled his car over by Oakley Street and Peat Meadow Road to make a call, when the driver of silver Hyundai pulled up, came out, opened the father’s car door, and tried snatching his phone.”

The victim wouldn’t give it up. The crook’s friends then got out of the Hyundai, pulled the victim from his car, and made off with it,” Hartman wrote in a release.

The crooks drove the car to a parking lot on the 200 block of Quinnipiac Avenue. Coincidentally, the victim’s daughter lives there. She happened to be outside and saw her father’s car being driven by a stranger. She confronted him, and a struggle ensued. The carjacker fled and in doing so, dragged the woman. He bailed out of the car and took off on foot along with the three remaining perps in the Hyundai.”

Police are looking for the four attackers, all described as teens.
