How Did Bridgeport Happen?

How did a disgraced former mayor who spent seven years in jail for taking $500,000 in kickbacks win his old job back?

That is Wednesday’s question as Connecticut realizes what happened Tuesday in Bridgeport: felonious ex-Mayor Joe Ganim was elected mayor again.

The world’s number-one Bridgeport politics expert, Lennie Grimaldi, editor of the Only In Bridgeport political blog, explored that question on WNHH radio’s Dateline New Haven” with State Sens. Gary Winfield of New Haven and Joe Markley of Southington.

The short answer, in everyone’s opinion: It happened because Bridgeport voters voted for Ganim. They wanted it to happen.

Call it democracy.
