Jobs March Features Civil Disobedience

For all those who don't have jobs, what have they done to improve skills? Jobs are earned, not given.

I have hundreds of hours at YNHH over the past two years.

If anything there are too many employees for a state concerned with heskthcare costs. I have talked to and been helped by dozens of employees. They are educated, diligent, compassionate and diverse and motivated- dare I say it happy - in any way you can compute.

They are women, black, Hispanic, Asian, Indian and more. They are young, old - they are without question the best and most diverse workforce I have ever encountered.

They are from throughout greater New Haven. Many started out in New Haven but told me they left as they have moved ahead.


It is shameful that community members, and politicians that have undermined education in New Haven for years in the city would attack this management. They are unbelievably good and have made YNHH into an outstanding institution.

The day the state and city is run as well is something to look forward to.

As a potential customer of Yale- New Haven (hope not) I urge the Hospital to seek the best candidates for each job rather than to make special efforts to hire New Haven residents

That is their duty, not just to make groups seeking special "affirmative action" for unqualified friends happy,

Yale-New Haven is just working to become a giant regional health provider which will ultimately mess up its old and sick folks even more than it has to date.

Example: its failure to negotiate a new contract with the largest provider of back-up for old folks on Medicare, United Healthcare, left thousands of area folk with no choice for Hospital healthcare in the New Haven area but to head to Waterbury Hospital for non-emergency care.

Fault on this one could also have been United Healthcare, formerly a quite good provider, I thought, which did not inform (although they claim they did ) its clients (like me) of the coming loss of the Hospital and its many, many doctors controlled by Yale New Haven until it was too late for them to seek other insurance coverage.

Hope those old folks who have not had a hospital need have cancelled United by now, as I and many others have ---- Used to be good, but now, is not, in the greater New Haven area
