Joe Doesn’t Live Here Anymore

Protesters (including Sally Joughin, pictured) lined up on Chapel Street to protest U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman’s prominent support for not just one, but now—count ‘em—two unpopular wars.
Activists from several antiwar groups held the protest Wednesday afternoon across from the Green at 900 Chapel St.
Lieberman moved to that building last year after winning reelection and selling his Westville home. The building has therefore drawn protests as Lieberman, a nominal “independent,” emerged as perhaps the most vocal proponent in Congress of a prolonged and stepped-up U.S. war in Iraq. After a recent trip to Iraq, Lieberman has also emerged as the most outspoken proponent of attacking Iran.

Lieberman moved out of 900 Chapel, and out of New Haven, last Friday, with purported plans to resettle in Stamford. That didn’t stop the protesters from returning there Tuesday waving signs to Chapel Street motorists with such slogans as “No War With Iran—Bring The Troops Home Now.” Click on the play arrow to watch the reaction from two women in a car stopped at a red light. (The conversation was cut short by a cop complaining about potential blocked traffic.)
p(clear). Among the protesters was Green Party mayoral candidate Ralph Ferrucci. In addition to war, Ferrucci had local police deployment and the shooting of the new Indiana Jones movie on his mind.

Ferrucci (pictured) pointed across the street. “Six cop cars on the Green!” he pointed out. “How often do you see that? It’s amazing what they’ll do for a movie! They got rid of the parking meters.”
p(clear). “The problem is,” Ferrucci continued, “we need them [cops] further down Chapel Street.”

I was called by a poll centered around the race for Mayor in New Haven. John DeStefano, Willie Green or Jim Newton were my choices. I desperately wanted the pollster to give me another choice. Ferrucci would have my vote.

I’m worried about American’s security. I don’t care about my image. I ran two clean races last year. Not my fault the idiotic Democrats voted for the billionaire instead of me, a simple multi-millionair. Bring on more war! It satisfies my appetite to see young people getting their heads shot off. And I’m so glad to be living closer to my children now. I get to see them more often!
