A 21-year-old man’s idea of fun landed him in the hospital Saturday night.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:
The man, who lives on Huntington Street, “willingly rode on the hood” of a red Chevrolet Cavalier “as part of a dangerous game.”
The driver of the car at one point hit the brakes near Shepard and Bassett streets.
That sent the man flying.
Cops, firefighters and EMTs arrived on the scene to find the man badly hurt. They rushed him by ambulance to Yale-New haven Hospital. Police reported him “in critical condition, despite his being conscious and able to speak with investigators.” The police towed the car to their Sherman Parkway impound yard and commended a crash unit investigation.
