Man, 66, Woman, 57, Injured In Separate Attacks

A 57-year-old woman driving on Dixwell Avenue near West Division Street went to the hospital Saturday night after a bullet hit her car.

The incident occurred at 7:57 p.m. The bullet struck the woman in the shoulder, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman. She also suffered a wound to her cheek,” which may have resulted from a car window shattering. Police are looking for the shooter. The woman was described as alert” at the scene.

Hartman said police did find the two men, who are 20 and 22 years old and both from Waterbury, who assaulted a 66-year-old man in a separate incident on Chapel Street near the corner of Orange at 8 p.m. Friday. The victim was standing at the pocket park and bus stop on Chapel. The two young men assaulted him, knocked him unconscious, then fled on one bicycle, according to Hartman. The cops found many witnesses at the scene, and they provided descriptions of the attackers. Officer Newton Anderson then found the suspects at Grand Avenue by Murphy Drive. They were arrested and charged with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit assault.
