Police have charged a 21-year-old man with gunning down an 18-year-old as he rode an ATV on Easter morning.
The suspect was arrested for the murder of Radcliff Deroche, who was killed on Dixwell Avenue during a bloody Easter weekend.
Detectives Manuella Vensel, Bertram Ettienne, Stephan Torquati and Carlos Roman investigated the incident under the direction of Sgt. Alfonso Vazquez.
Vazquez said police didn’t find the murder weapon, but they did find witnesses who identified the suspect as the shooter. Vazquez declined to comment on a theory that the boy was killed in retaliation for stealing the ATV.
Detectives got an arrest warrant on May 11 for the suspect. The man remained on the run until Wednesday morning, when he was taken into custody at a Fair Haven home, according to police. He was charged with: “Murder, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.” He was being held on a $2 million bond.
