Amtrak service was halted for close to an hour Tuesday morning after a sleeping homeless man fell from the Cedar Street bridge onto the railroad tracks below.
The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. Six firefighters and ambulance workers carried the man off the tracks in a “stokes basket,” according to Capt. William Gambardella.
The man was taken to Yale for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Gambardella said he fell about 20 feet onto dirt and gravel.
