A 21-year-old was shot four times at the Getty Gas Mart in Beaver Hills Monday night, after he ran into the store to escape a man he had been fighting with.
The man is in “stable but critical condition.”
That’s the word from police spokesman Officer David Hartman. Here’s what happened according to Hartman:
People called 911 at 8:58 p.m. to say someone had been shot at the business by the juncture of Blake and Fitch streets.
Cops arrived to find the 21-year-old man “shot four times including once to the abdomen and a graze to the head. The victim was conscious.”
Police believe the victim got into a fight with the shooter in the parking lot of the convenience store. The victim then ran into the Gas Mart and the shooter followed him. The shooter didn’t go in; he leaned his hand into the door and fired bullets into the store.
The victim is a convicted felon. He was admitted to Yale-New Haven Hospital’s St. Raphael campus for treatment. The victim was able to talk after the shooting; he said he didn’t know who shot him. Police ask anyone with information to call them at 203-946-6316.
