Man Shot In Head

A 37-year-old man remains in critical condition after he was shot in the back of the head early Friday.

Here’s what happened, according to Officer Dave Hartman:

Police were dispatched to George Street near Waverly Street at 2:34 a.m. to investigate a shooting.

They found a man suffering from a gunshot in the back of his head. The victim had arrived in front of 590 George Street to pick someone up. He was approached from behind by the gunman and shot. Robbery does not appear to have been the motive,” Hartman wrote.

The shooter ran east on George Street, got into a car parked near Waverly Street, and fled from the area.”

The victim was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he remains in critical condition.”

Purse Snatched Downtown

According to Hartman:

Around 1 a.m., Police were called to the area of York and Crown Streets regarding a robbery. The victim, a 27-year-old woman, reported she’d been walking on Crown Street when she was confronted by a man. She said he grabbed her handbag and pushed her to the ground. She sustained a minor injury to her knee.

The crook fled atop a dark-colored mountain bike,” Hartman said. He was described as a black man with a dark complexion. He was clean shaven and wore a gray hooded sweatshirt.”
