Man Shoots Self, Runs Into School

A 27-year-old man was shot in the groin Tuesday afternoon and then ran into Lincoln-Bassett School seeking help.
The shooting occurred at 3:15 p.m.
Here’s what happened, according to Lt. Jeff Hoffman:
Witnesses reported hearing one gunshot on Lilac Street. A 27-year-old man then ran to the rear of Lincoln-Bassett. He got into the locked vestibule as an adult was exiting. He sought help for a gunshot wound, and was subsequently transported to the hospital. His injuries initially “appear to be non-life-threatening,” Hoffman said.
School had already been dismissed at the time of the incident, and kids had gone home, Hoffman said.
It later turned out that the man had shot himself, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.
