Join Diane “Cookie” Polan’s beloved kin, colleagues, and community for a memorial service and reception to celebrate her momentous life.
The service takes place this Sunday, Dec. 4, beginning at 2 p.m., at Worthington Hooker Middle School, which as a parent she helped lead the charge for creating as a separate building.
Polan, a crusading civil-rights and criminal defense attorney who made New Haven a more just place, died Oct. 21 at the age of 65.

Cookie Polan was an inspiring warrior for the rights of poor people, midwives, criminal defendants, disabled people, activists, and more. She was a fearless antagonist to the system. She was taken so suddenly in the midst of her work. Her loss is keenly felt.
