Murder Arrest Made

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a 2012 murder at the Church Street South housing complex across from Union Station.

Police obtained a warrant for the man last Monday. Then, on Friday, Officers James Murcko and John Schmaltz spotted the man on Liberty Street. They arrested him, and he was charged with felony murder in connection with the Sept. 18, 2012, shooting death of Joseph Mirvil in a Church Street South vestibule, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

The man is the second arrestee in the case. Back in 2012 police arrested another man as well and charged him with being involved in the murder. He has been held on $1 million bond ever since, and his case hasn’t yet gone to trial, according to the state judicial website. Sgt. Elisa Tuozzoli was the lead investigator in the case.
