A teenage boy is under arrest in connection to the shooting of a 14 year-old girl Monday. —Meanwhile, a rash of apparently unrelated shootings continued, with a fifth victim in 48 hours clinging to life in the hospital. —And a Yale student was mugged on Howe Street. Read on for more details, according to police spokeswoman Bonnie Winchester.
A teenage boy is under arrest in connection to the shooting of a 14 year-old girl Monday. Police arrested a 15 year-old boy at his Farnam Courts home Tuesday, where they also seized an illegal gun. Police say he fired the gun after a short verbal dispute. The victim, 14, was walking on Humphrey Street Monday night with four teenage relatives when the group got into a fight with the man, who shot her in the abdomen, said police.
In the fifth unrelated shooting in just over two days, a 33 year-old city man was shot outside 68 Pierpont St. in Fair Haven at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. The man was walking to the front porch of a friend’s house when he encountered two men, and got into a fight. The victim, from Edgewood Avenue, was shot in the back and leg.
And a Yale student was entering his apartment building at 84 Howe St. at 5:24 p.m. Tuesday when a man followed him inside into the front vestibule. The man grabbed him from behind, stole his wallet, took the cash, and fled.
